Adam Saskin is a partner in both the firm’s Corporate/Commercial Law Group and Real Estate Law Group.
His Corporate/Commercial practice focuses on advising start-ups and technology companies from formation through to exit, as well as M&A, private equity, venture capital, equity and debt financing.
In the context of Adam’s Real Estate practice, he has extensive experience in acquisitions and dispositions, the structuring and formation of real estate funds, financing and commercial leasing matters.
Before joining Fasken Martineau, Adam Saskin practiced at a national US firm in Boston and another law firm in Montreal.
Christian Jacques co-chairs the Montreal Startup/Emerging Tech practice group since 2012. He specializes in angel/venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, for high-growth emerging companies.
Christian’s clients range from start-up companies in the earliest stages to well-established public companies, as well as angels, private equity and venture capital funds.
He also provides strategic counseling in a broad range of industries, including software as a service, big data, virtual reality, augmented reality, internet of things, 3D printing, medtech, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, neurotechnology, blockchain and cryptocurrency.
Costa focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, information technology, and start-ups, including in the context of complex multi-jurisdictional cross-border transactions.
Before entering law, Costa worked in social media, web site design and programming, and has a keen understanding of the practical commercial and legal problems faced by small businesses and startups in the information technology sector.
Dan Su provides counsel in mergers & acquisitions, general corporate law and securities law. She has participated in a variety of deals, including cross-border transactions involving public and private companies. Dan joined Fasken as a student in 2013 following her second year in McGill University’s BCL/LLB program. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Chinese law and a master’s degree in international business law.
Dawei Ding is an associate of the Corporate/Commercial group. He specializes in technology law, venture capital financing and mergers and acquisitions.
Dawei advises and represents clients in numerous industries, including information technologies, fintech, artificial intelligence, blockchain and video games. Combining his passion for law and technology, he has the necessary expertise and experience to help rapidly growing tech companies achieve their business objectives.
In addition to his degrees in civil and common law, Dawei holds a Master’s in Comparative Law from the Université de Montréal and a Bachelor in Economics from McGill University.
Dawei is actively involved in the Montreal Chinese business community and is fluent in Mandarin, French and English.
Prior to joining Fasken, Dawei practised with another major Montreal business law firm. Before entering law school, he was a professional video game player on a US team.
Gabrielle Paris Gagnon is an associate of the Corporate/Commercial Law group. She specializes in technology and business law.
Gabrielle advises and represents primarily clients who are integrating deep learning into their business model.
She has a Master’s in Comparative Law with a focus on civil liability and artificial intelligence in the stock market. Her experience and university studies help her understand the legal, strategic, and commercial issues faced by clients.
Before joining Fasken, Gabrielle practised with a multi-sectoral boutique firm providing services to start-ups and at a civil and commercial litigation firm.
As a member of the Technology and Securities Group of Fasken’s Vancouver office, Geoff advises emerging companies and the investors that fund them in connection with early stage, venture capital, growth equity, private equity and M&A transactions.
Focusing on the technology sector, Geoff advises entrepreneurs, start-ups and venture-backed technology companies, from ideation through business organization, capital raising and exit.
Geoff provides a broad range of pragmatic legal advice at the business formation stage and continues to serve as the first point of contact for clients as the business matures, regularly working with them on matters relating to debt and equity financing, liquidity transactions, and day-to-day corporate law matters.
In addition, Geoff advises on complex commercial matters relating to information technology, including licensing and development, for business in a variety of industries.
Guillaume Synnott is an associate within the Corporate/Commercial Law Group. He specializes in venture capital and private equity financings, mergers and acquisitions and public offerings for high-growth technology companies.
Jean-François Séguin is a partner in the Emerging Tech, Private Equity & Venture Capital and Corporate/M&A groups at Fasken. He advises high-growth companies as well as institutional investors on M&A transactions, equity financings, joint ventures and a wide range of other corporate matters. He is also a strategic advisor to tech startups wishing to raise capital, build administrative functions and/or expand internationally.
Prior to rejoining Fasken (where he started his career), Jean-François was Executive Vice President, Chief of Staff and General Counsel at Dialogue Technologies, a fast-growing digital health company based in Montreal. Previously, Jean-François worked in London and in the Middle East as a Vice President in the investment banking team at Rothschild as well as a Senior Associate in the private equity team at Clifford Chance.
Jean-Nicolas Delage is the co-leader of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications group and specializes in intellectual property strategy for rapidly growing technological clients.
Jean-Nicolas often helps clients with intellectual property matters during commercial transactions, including licensing, cooperation agreements, due diligence investigations, etc. He participates in implementing patent pools in the wake of new standards adopted by standard-setting bodies and advises clients on intellectual property issues that raise the standardization process. He also contributes to developing intellectual property management strategies and policies for grant agencies and businesses forming part of a research consortium that includes the government, businesses, universities and government research centres.
Jeff Dennis acts as the firm’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence. A trusted advisor, Jeff works with high growth companies, providing strategic advice and financing.
Frequently working with start-ups, acquisition and financing for a variety of businesses, Jeff has assisted clients spanning a range of industries, including real estate, hospitality, film , insurance, cosmetics, franchising, high technology, alternative energy, investment management, medical software, online auctions, incentive marketing and employee motivation.
Co-founder of the Toronto Chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization, now called the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO), Jeff has served in many leadership capacities for the organization, both nationally and internationally.
Through his association with EO and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Jeff created a seminar series called “Lessons from the Edge.” Through this series, which is the highest rated session at the annual EO conventions, entrepreneurs share their worst mistakes in business and the important lessons they learned. Jeff’s book Lessons from the Edge was inspired by this successful seminar series.
Jeff was also Profit Magazine’s “Entrepreneur in Residence,” and continues to write a blog on issues of interest to entrepreneurs.
A lawyer by training, Jeff is also a graduate of the “Birthing of Giants” executive education program of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A sought-after public speaker by both entrepreneurial groups and business schools, Jeff has traveled to countries including Thailand, India, Nepal, the U.S. and Canada to speak.
Louis Lespérance is an associate within the Corporate/Commercial law group. Specializing in emerging technologies, Louis advises and represents start-up and high-growth technology companies. He mainly acts in matters related to their financing and corporate reorganizations.
Louis joined the Fasken team as a student in 2016 and as an articling student in 2018. In the course of his university studies, Louis completed the Universidad de Costa Rica’s summer program as well as an exchange program with the University of Tel -Aviv. The experience he acquired abroad allowed him to complete his Bachelors with the International Option.
Aside from his interest in politics, Louis plays tennis and is an avid scuba diver.

Vanessa specializes in data protection and information security law. She advises organizations on the operationalization of related concepts such as privacy and security by design.
She is a Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) with proven experience in assisting organizations with data protection legislation, such as the General Data Protection Regulation, and other standards affecting entities operating on a data-driven market. Vanessa helps organizations, in particular in the sector of emerging technologies, to manage legal risks relating to data in a preventive manner, allowing organizations to build trust with their customers and acquire a competitive edge.
William is a lawyer specializing in data protection and information security law. He practises in the areas of privacy, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, access to information and online marketing.
